Double-Decker Narrowbody
March 15, 2008 08:13PM
Inspired by Airbus' A380 double-decker, I thought it would be interesting to see a double-decker replacement for the A320/737 lines of aircraft. Instead of just adding a second deck to an existing narrowbody aircraft, I'd like to see the fuselage shortened, so that the same number of passengers would occupy the new double-decker model as would the standard single model. I'm thinking that on the main deck, you'd have about 20 rows of 2-2 seating and then on the upper deck, 20 rows of 1-1 seating (totaling only about 100 passengers). From the outside, I think it would look very interesting to have an unusually narrow but also unusually tall fuselage.

I'll give it a try and tell me what you think of it. I'll post it here in a few days.

Here you go! I call it the A360. It has the Wings, Empennage and nose of the A320, and similar engines. I started it, then became busy with school and all that, and then changed the tail and upper part of the front. Let me know if you want me to change anything!

Wow! I put it up just about 5 minutes ago and I have already it changed quite a bit. I redesigned the nose to a more 'anteater' shape and made the engines bigger and moved the horizontal stabilizer further back. I am also working on a larger version.

OK, finally done. I also extended the fuselage slightly.

Here is the A370, it has a few extra rows:

I love it! That's exactly what I had in mind! The smallest one looks like a fish!

Thanks so much for indulging me.

post 4.

The middle one - a 747 that should have been. Double-decker narrowbody.

Vickers also planned a narrowbody double-decker after VC10.
