Create an aircraft
April 18, 2009 12:14AM
We have seen Create an Aircraft Manufacturer, so I propose Create an Aircraft.
Focus on one aircraft and design it as well as advertisements and other details.
They must be created from scratch.
Other things that can be included:
-Features
-Seat maps
-Liveries of customers
-Other parts in detail (winglets, engines, etc)
-Aircraft data

What do you guys think?

Oh, please try to be relatively realistic, nothing like a Mach 5 superjumbo!
Have fun!

Dassault Ganymede 1100.

Fuselage: cabin width 325 cm, cabin height 212 cm. Cabin length about 18 m. Maximum passenger capacity at 5 abreast, all coach 103 seats. By design, the preferred arrangements are those with much business class accommodation or altogether VIP interiors.

Wingspan 35 m. Wing area 150 square m. MTOW of the baseline model 1100 is 75 t. 3 engines, Rolls-Royce BR800, at 7500 kgf each, mounted in the tail. +-tail, with the tailplane low, right above the middle engine inlet. Main landing gear of 2 legs, with 4 wheel bogies each.

Is this interesting?

Plenty. I don't have any original ideas of my own. The best I can come up with is a 757 with raked wingtips. I look forward to reading more of these though.

Hi Guys!
Great ideas so far.
I was thinking more along the lines of a fictitious manufacturer too and a brand new aircraft.
Looking forward to seeing them!
Mine is on its way too.

Thats what I thought, I just kind of looked at the name of the topic and posted xD

Great ideas, especially Trevor's. I'm really going to have to think of something!

The aircraft designs should be from scratch, but can be based off other templatesd (within limits, things like windows are allowed to be reused).
It just makes the aircraft more interesting and we can see som new designs.

First design of the Atlantic Aerospace AT-10.
The design was originally going to be a 757 with modified parts, but this is very different.
It has a larger fuselage, tail and wing as well as more powerful engines and a sleeker nose.
Final design has yet to be confirmed.

AircraftLength (m)Wingspan (m)PowerplantRange (km)Capacity
AT-1048.242.42* Rolls-Royce Trent 444 (195kN)7,700245 1-class

There already is a thread for that!

I thought that what was asked here was a brand new clean sheet design from an existing builder...

More specifics for Dassault Ganymede 1100:

Window pitch 60 cm. Windows are 36 cm wide, 46 cm high, separated by 24 cm blank walls.

No, this is to focus on one specific aircraft.
More detail, perhaps even things like ads.

Newer AT-10 design, now v3 (v2 had some minor changes which were used on v3).

Dimensions are the same, but nose is slightly changed, vertical stabilizer is larger, winglets are changed slightly and more aerials are added.

Range has alse been increased by 100km for -10R due to changes.

Final design of the AT-10 to be posted soon.
Features all new horizontal stabiliser and wing, as well as larger windows, sleeker engines and larger, blended winglets.
The new AT-10 design is 95% made by me (windows are from jetabouts 764).

What is the fuselage cross-section?

The aircraft length/fuse diameter aren't really to scale, but I made the fuselage wider than the 757. It is also wider than the A320 series, and circular, as compared to the 737/757.
I would say roughly 4 meters across.

The latest, and hopefully final, revision of the AT-10 design.
Features a new, larger wing and horizontal stabiliser as well as blended winglets.
Engines are slightly larger, as are windows.

B727, B737 and B757 are 376 cm wide, 401 cm high. A320 is 395 cm wide, 414 cm high.

Would be about 4.2 m high then.

Re: Create an aircraft

The AT-20 will appear in the manufacturer thread soon.
The AT-10/20 are like 757/767, one medium range, the other- a widebody.

The AT-20 will share the same nose and a similar wing with the AT-10, but feature a fuselage roughly 6 metres (outside diameter) and 5.7m inner diameter.
With revolutionary new engines, the AT-20 will be over 25% more efficient than the 767, as well as have a lower CASM than the 787.
The engines are in the works, but are unlike any in service.

For reference:
767 - 503 cm wide, 541 cm high
A300 - 564 cm wide, 564 cm high
B787 - 577 cm wide, 591 cm high
Tristar - 597 cm wide, 597 cm high
DC-10 - 602 cm wide, 602 cm high.

Thanks mate.

I look forward to seeing your designs Trevor!

I have had a slight delay in the design, my PC was being repaired for the past 5 days.

Pics of the AT-10R in Atlantica Airways colours uploaded!

The AT-20 will be next. It will be a widebody, very efficient too. The aircraft is based on a design from 40 years ago, and the very efficient engines are actually derived from 20 year old tech. So new, yet so old...

This will be very similar to the powerplant on the AT-20. (Top graphic)

RayFlight Coming soon!

Re: Create an aircraft
April 01, 2010 07:21PM
My bad, RayFlight didn't sound cool so Rayviation (obviously RAYdon aVIATION...) was born. S110 was born and i'm currently working on the S130

Re: Create an aircraft

Rayviation S110

As part for the S100 series, this will be Rayviation's debut aircraft. Covering a maximum range of 4500km and carry 230-250 passengers depending on class configuration, it offers a competitive package to the mainstream Boeing 737 and Airbus A320/A321. Not only does it offer ample legroom, it offers a quiet cabin and is also environmentally friendly so you do you passengers and the environment a favor.

Rayviation test liveries all feature Blayne the blue crane, the official mascot of Rayviation.

Rayviation- Quiet Efficient Perfection
