Questions part II

Questions for admin....
What it is option "last 24-48 hours" on front page? The pic is there always for only 24 hours so I don`t know why is this option named "24-48 hours"? The list of categories in upload must be filled with new. If I have.... as example... classic from 1960 which is a cabriolet in the same time, what to write in upload cabrio or classic. Also in categorisation of old cars we have oldtimers with more than 50 or more years old like Ford T and classic cars as Jag XK from 50-ies or XJ6 from 80-ies at the same place. There is no MPV option, what is "jeep" and what is "SUV" this is not always clear, even at wikipedia, if you try to find the answer. If I have, as example, Citroen Jumper in cargo option, this is not truck and also not a pick-up. If I have custom option it works as custom american cars, but experimental cars on carshows or mobile construction machines on wheels, army vehicles and many other wheel beasts, what to write as category. I think that here will be very good to have empty little window wher we can write categorisation for those "customs". Now we have custom cars, tractors, design studies cars, tanks and other army vehicles, construction machines ... all together. Regards Misko Ruvidic Ikarus Re: Questions part II

I have to agree with this. We got a lot of real organizing to do, but I think right now we need to focus on filling in formation, I think earlier you mentioned its stupid to have unknown cars. I kind of agree with this, unless it is something really fancy, I don't think something should be added unless all information expect the year is filled in. Even if it is not by the photographer, but the person who accepts the photos should be smart in this area, unless of course its classic cars, well then I guess Marten would have to be doing that job. -Nicholas ![]() ![]() Re: Questions part II

We will at some point soon (not sure how soon) move over to a new categorization system.
Perhaps we should discuss this in open as it's a very difficult question. The main goal is to separate functions such as taxi/cab, police, firefighter and military from the vehicle body such as car/suv/stationwagon/truck etc. Please keep going with filling in the categories. The new data fields (like police/ambulance) will be filled up with information that is already filled in any other category such as car type. Regards, Henrik Re: Questions part II

Having dual categories would be nice, one could be body style and one to do with its use, so you could have Truck/Military, Truck/Police, SUV/Govt, Van/Govt, Van/Private, etc.
Jeep is fairly broad, for me a Jeep is a Wrangler/Willys/similar, but not a Wagoneer, Patriot, etc. Felipe Garcia

The problem with jeep or SUV categories is now multiplied with official status of some vehicles of that kind. As ex. we don`t have MPV category on CDB and in wikipedia Land Rover became by mistery MPV car even we all know that for years Land Rover is "other name or synonim for Jeep kind of an vehicle. If Land Rover is not one kind of the jeep I don`t know what it is. So, the category JEEP doesn`t exist any more. Range Rover, because of some luxury models became SUV even the basis of Range Rover is pure brutal strong JEEP category. One example about MPV... Seat Alhambra is MPV as Land Rover (official categorisation) What do you say about it ..... brilliant...... Misko Ruvidic Ikarus Re: Questions part II

So if an old Suburban is jacked up fitted with mag wheels and fancy crome, then painted red is it a Jeep, terrain vehicle,SUV,firefighter or a custom?

As you wrote Mirten, yes, after luxuary added package, ordinary "jeep" type in our CDB options vehicle became SUV, or SUV became MPV. Can you imagine Citroen C4 Picasso and Land Rover in the same category, but officialy it is. What to choose as category in upload. There is a long list of examples for this, more or less funny as option.

Jeep should be a Wrangler or similar only.
SUV anything else like that (Land Cruiser, Defender, etc). Defenders should not be considered Jeeps. Most Jeep owners in the US say "I have a Jeep", it can be a Compass, Cherokee or Wranger, but they always specify it's a Jeep, and a good number of them are assholes. MPV small minivans Felipe Garcia

perhaps catheogry for terrain vehicle, I mean fully offroad competition and trial vehicles, and rescue vehicles such as track driven bandwagons and such? more hardcore stuff than a gay Jeep Cherokee

I don't find Jeep Cherokee's gay, my dad owned one they were great.
Though we were not like those people who get so into that kind of Off Roading thing, although that shit is pretty cool. -Nicholas ![]() ![]() Re: Questions part II

After some of posts in this topic, the conclusion for me about jeep category.... there is no any reason to have this category for five or six models in upload section. Let`s use SUV or MPV (now missing on the site) terminology for everything which looks like jeep and is not Wrangler or some oldtimer original jeep.

Never ending with my questions, sorry. We wrote here about as more as possible data in upload materials by us, but webmaster give a chance for upload to some "incognito" people without name and contacts. Not to say anything about extremely bad quality of those pics, you can it see yourself. Mobile camera or "drunk author", what else....
one example ..... [www.cardatabase.net] Again sorry for my words, but, if we have idea of growing and better ranking of our CDB on the net, we must give here our best, sharp, and pics with data which are asked us to write in upload process, more informations to the site visitors and downloaders of our pictures. Look any of Mr. Melin photos ... 30 or more years old, interesting, scaned, B/W, but perfect quality in all parameters of photography. Misko Ruvidic Ikarus Edited 6 times. Question for actual screeners. Why some pics are reduced by screeners to under 400 kb and a great number of pics is about 1 MB (which is nice for downloaders-visitors of the site) and I like it and vote for that.

I agree I have a bunch of photos that are at like 380kb and they would be allowed which pisses me off because they are good photos. I would like to say anything higher than that would be better -Nicholas ![]() ![]() Re: Questions part II

Happy to see that we have here, for last couple of days, again large pictures that 350 kB. This was always the best thing here on the site. For me reducing (as ex. Jo-jo fantastic pics from historical rallye, or Marten`s american classics) is a "crime" Great pics with large resolution usable at once as wallpaper is a real joy to our visitors.
